The Great Race has decided to make it’s cross-country treck right through Birmingham’s UPTOWN and Protective Stadium!
This is no ordinary race, it’s an antique, vintage, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed. It is a test of a driver/navigator teams ability to follow precise course instructions and the cars (and teams) ability to endure on a cross-country trip. The course instructions require the competing teams to drive at or below the posted speed limits at all times
Since 1983, car enthusiasts have been coming out each summer to drive their vintage cars across the country for the chance to win a prize. But the journey each summer is about so much more than winning. It’s about the cars, the people, the scenery, and the cities. And many of these aspects that everyone loves about the Great Race have not changed in the 30+ years since it started.
