Description

The Pete Hanna Center is the state-of-the-art $32 million multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility on the campus of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Opened in October of 2007, the 132,000 square foot facility is an ideal setting for athletic events, concerts, banquets, lectures and conferences.
The centerpiece of the Hanna Center is the 5,000-seat Thomas and Marla Corts Arena. Home to Samford basketball and volleyball as well as Commencement exercises and numerous special events, Corts Arena is already gaining notice as one of the finest venues of its size in the nation. With 2,800 retractable chair-back seats in the lower bowl, 2,200 bleacher seats in the upper bowl and the ability to add 1,000 temporary seats on the floor, the Corts Arena can meet the needs of a wide variety of first-class events.
In addition to Corts Arena, the Hanna Center features numerous spaces that are available to host events, including the Hospitality Suite overlooking the Arena, which can seat 150, the South Colonnade area inside the Corts Arena that can accommodate 250 for dinners or receptions and the East and West Lobbies, both of which are ideal spaces for fairs, receptions and other events. Furthermore, the Hanna Center Seminar Room offers integrated audio-visual and stadium-style seating for 100 in a classroom setting.
The Hanna Center also serves as the day-to-day home for Samford athletics, with a dedicated varsity weight room, sports medicine facilities, locker rooms for Samford and visiting teams and offices for coaches and administrators.
