Ruffner Mountain

Just ten minutes from downtown, this 1,038-acre nature preserve is a quiet getaway for nature lovers. Easy to moderate hiking trails lead through a Southern upland forest with its diverse plant and animal life including resident and migratory birds. Find a spectacular view at Hawk’ s View overlook. Beautiful spring wildflowers and autumn colors highlight the seasons. The Nature Center has exhibits including raptors, turtles, and other native Alabama wildlife.

The Nature Center is open Thursday – Sunday, 9am- 5pm.

Trails are open Tuesday – Sunday from
7 AM – 5 PM   Nov – Feb
7 AM – 7 PM   Mar – Oct
CLOSED MONDAYS

There is a $5 parking fee for non-members.
