The business had its beginnings in 1995 in Birmingham, AL when Dan, an enthusiastic home chef, began cooking barbequed ribs for family and friends. Prodded to enter a local barbeque contest, Dan won a 3rd place prize. The publicity from that first contest led to opportunities to cater local parties and events. Early events including feeding hundreds at Birmingham’s historic Legion Field during the Olympic Games.
In 1997 Dan & Audrey began competing on the professional barbeque circuit as ‘The Tenderonies’ to much success, placing in most contests they enter, including 1st Place for two consecutive years at the Alabama Blues Lover’s Festival, a Tennessee State Championship for pulled pork, and 10th overall against over 60 teams from all over the world in the first IBBQA World Cookoff. Our experience competing and vending at Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS ) events all over the Southeast, as well as local festivals such as Magic City Art Connection and City Stages, give us a unique specialty in catering outdoor events for any size crowd.
