Description

Formerly the A.G. Gaston Motel. In its heyday, it was Birmingham’s only first-class motel for lodging African-Americans. Many of the primary civil rights leaders, including the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., stayed at the motel when they came to town for strategy meetings. Open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
