His & Hers

Day
1

Your Friday

Plan on getting here late in the afternoon or early evening. Choose a hotel in a central location like Mountain Brook or the downtown area. Check in, get freshened up and head out to Ovenbird for a delicious dinner and cocktails to unwind from your hectic week. *Reservations required

Then check the Neighborhoods section of our website to locate the best romantic spot to enjoy each other in a specific area of town

In Avondale, you’ll find the Marble Ring, the perfect spot for a nightcap. Modeled after a prohibition-era speakeasy, it’s accessed through a hidden door in the back of a phone booth. Private, secluded tables and wing back chairs offer you the opportunity to sit, talk, and reconnect.

Day
2

Your Saturday

Whether you prefer to rise with the sun or be a little lazier, just make sure you’re up in time for breakfast at Bogue’s Restaurant. Open since 1938, it’s a meal to get the day started right.

Then make the short trip to the top of Red Mountain where you’ll find Vulcan Park. Be sure to stroll the scenic Vulcan Trail that meanders along the ridge of the mountain, then head to the top of the Iron Man himself for breathtaking views and photo ops of the entire city.

After that, head down the backside of Red Mountain into Homewood for shopping in SoHo. Chic boutiques, original antiques, hip clothing, home furnishings…there’s more than enough to keep you busy. And as if that weren’t enough, the next neighborhood over is Mountain Brook and its three villages, each chock full of galleries, high fashion and jewelry stores.

Once lunchtime rolls around, make your way to the Lakeview District and hit up the patio at Slice Pizza & Brew where you can enjoy a slice or split a whole pie while enjoying one of our delicious local craft beers.

Then try your golfing skills at Top Golf downtown. Fully covered, multi-tiered tee boxes complete with tables, chairs and sofas create a comfortable lounge-type atmosphere while microchipped golf balls automatically award points for distance and accuracy.

After you’ve had time to shower and change back at the hotel, have some dinner at Ovenbird. James Beard Award-winning chef Chris Hastings offers up seasonal southern small plates in the live fire tradition of Spain, Portugal and much of South America.

Day
3

Your Sunday

Roll out of bed late morning and make your way to brunch at the Fig Tree Café. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients are the order of the day and each dish has its own unique flair.

Your Takeaway

It’s an intentional weekend with your significant other designed to bring you both closer together. Sharing experiences and interests while possibly discovering something you might not have expected.
