The Alabama State Games is the second oldest state games program in the country.

 

The Alabama State Games was established in 1982 at the request of the United States Olympic Committee as a grassroots organization to increase interest in Olympic sports.  The first Alabama State Games took place at Auburn University in July 1983 with 600 athletes competing in 4 sports.  Since then, the Alabama State Games has grown into the largest annual multi-sport event in Alabama with thousands of athletes competing in 25 different sports.  The Alabama State Games is the second oldest state games program in the country.  In 2023, the Alabama State Games will be back in Birmingham and Jefferson County for its 40th Anniversary.  Register to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals at alagames.com and choose from 25 different tournaments featuring both team and individual sports.  Registered athletes will have a true Olympic-style experience beginning with a televised live parade of athletes during the opening ceremony on June 9, 2023 registered athletes will qualify to win one of 17 scholarships totaling $20,000 in scholarship awards if they are present at the State Farm Athlete Leadership Summit and the 40th Anniversary Opening Ceremony.  Register by May 22, 2023 at alagames.com!
