USA Fencing’s Super Youth Circuit and Regional Junior / Cadet Circuit is set for April 12-14 and will feature nearly 450 fencers from at least 15 different states.

BIRMINGHAM , Ala. — The 2023-24 USA Fencing Super Youth Circuit and Regional Junior / Cadet Circuit will welcome fencing’s most talented youngsters as they pack up and head to Birmingham, Ala., for the Magic City SYC/RJCC — held April 12 – 14.

It’s all going down at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex where some of USA Fencing’s youngest fencers will take to the fencing strip. Every Olympic hopeful’s dream of representing Team USA starts at a tournament just like the Magic City SYC/RJCC.

“If history is any indication, at least one of the fencers competing in Birmingham  — and probably many more — will go on to represent Team USA at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles,” says Phil Andrews, USA Fencing CEO. “That journey begins now, making this a unique chance to witness future fencing stars today.”

Some 450 fencers will gain valuable experience, lifelong memories and national ranking points in Birmingham. And they’ll bring with them hundreds more coaches, family members and supporters — providing a healthy boost to the local economy.

Birmingham is one of the last stops on the national calendar for these youth fencers as they compete to qualify for the 2024 National Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

The competition will unfold over events across six different age classifications: Junior (under 20), Cadet (under 17), Youth-14, Youth-12 and Youth-10.  The Magic City SYC/RJCC is unique because it also includes a new classification of Youth-8 events that are structured appropriately for this younger group of athletes.

The USA Fencing invites the community to check out fencing at this national fencing tournament. Admission is free, and open to the public. The Birmingham Fencing Club is honored to have been selected to host the Magic City SYC/RJCC from among many other clubs around the Southeast that applied to run the exciting national tournament!
