The two-time defending USFL Champion Birmingham Stallions are one of the four USFL teams to survive the merge with the XFL, according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio and multiple reports. Read on for the details.

In September, Bham Now reported that the United States Football League (USFL) and the XFL formally announced their intention to merge, intending to enhance future growth and the development of both league’s players, coaches and staff.

Now, the combined USFL-XFL has announced that four teams from the USFL will survive to play again in 2024. Those teams are:

Cut from the USFL-XFL roster are the New Jersey Generals, the New Orleans Breakers, the Pittsburgh Maulers and the Philadelphia Stars. The XFL—which had teams last year in Arlington, Houston, Orlando, San Antonio, D.C., Seattle, St. Louis, and Las Vegas—will announce which teams will merge with the four surviving USFL teams at a later date.

The USFL-XFL league is set to debut in late March 2024.
