IN OUR BRIEFS: CVB Promotions, Hirings

At the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau:

David Galbaugh has been promoted to vice president of sports sales and marketing.  Galbaugh has been director of the sports marketing department since 2007.  He is a certified sports event executive and works closely with organizers of all major sporting events in the Birmingham area.

Cynthia McIntosh has been named executive meetings market manager.  Previously in the CVB tourism department, she will now oversee meetings and tradeshows generating up to 150 room nights.

Formerly an information specialist, Christalan Richardson will add to those duties as servicing coordinator for the tourism department.  An employee of the CVB since 1999, Richardson will provide servicing for group tours and tour coordinators.

Rita Kelley has been promoted from administrative assistant in the convention sales department to information technology manager.  In her new position, Kelley is responsible for computer operations, training and maintenance.

Kim Graham Smith has joined the CVB as director of graphic design.  With more than 20 years of agency experience, Smith will design and execute print and digital materials for all departments of the CVB.

Sheryl Ellis has joined the CVB staff as tourism sales manager.  Ellis has an extensive work history in the hotel industry and also has a background of experience working with convention and visitor bureaus.
