Some prefer to spend the holiday season roasting chestnuts on an open fire, but here in Birmingham we prefer to spend it with a cocktail in hand. Whether you like it shaken or stirred, on the rocks or dry, we can all agree the key to an excellent night out begins with a trip to one of Birmingham’s craft cocktail institutions.

That’s why we’ve partnered with our friends at The Collins Bar (2121 2nd Ave N) to bring you a selection of cocktails that are sure to make your days merry and bright. Scroll below to see their instructions on how-to create this season’s tastiest sips.

The Holly Jolly (as seen above)
1.5 ounces bourbon
3/4 ounce green chartreuse
.5 ounce Arerol
2 dashes Ragan’s orange bitters
Holly with berries to garnish
Orange – peel only

Combine the first 4 ingredients in a mixing glass over ice. Stir for 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Express and flame an orange peel. Garnish with holly and berries. Cheers!

The Woodsman
1.5 ounces Bourbon
1 ounce Domain De Canton
1 ounce Lemon Juice
.5 ounce Grade B Maple Syrup
Rosemary for Garnish

In a shaker with ice, combine the first four ingredients. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain over ice in a collins glass. Garnish with rosemary. Voilà!

The Golden Goose
1 ounce bourbon
1 ounce hoodoo chicory liquor
.5 ounce demerera syrup
1 whole egg
Nutmeg for garnish

Combine first 4 ingredients in a shaker without ice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Add ice. Shake again for 15 seconds. Strain into a glass. Garnish with grated nutmeg. Enjoy!
