This is one of the most comprehensive sporting events ever to take place in the Southeastern United States and the first time they have been held in this country since The Games were founded in 1981.
You are here to see sports competitions among 3,000 of the world’s best athletes. Whether you have come to watch sumo, gymnastics, martial arts, or other contests, you will find them held at interesting venues around the greater Birmingham area.
Check the schedule below for times and places for each competition. You can’t spend all your time watching sports; there’s much to see and do in the greater Birmingham area. We have offered suggested itineraries for visitors to The World Games 2022. Please see below for ideas about how to spend your time when you’re not watching The Games.
We expect to greet both domestic and international media here to cover The Games. Birmingham has even more to experience and to write home about. Below, members of the media will find suggested story ideas to accompany your pieces about sports competitions.

Starting on May 23, come by the Homewood Public Library’s Children’s Department or visit our website at www.homewoodpubliclibrary.org to sign up for summer reading. Once signed up, come pick up a goodie bag! You’ll receive a calendar reading log to track each day you read or listen to an audiobook. Bring your log to our children’s desk, and for each day you mark off, you will earn an entry in our drawing for a weekly prize! Bon voyage!
(Rising 6th-12th Grade) An “Ocean of Possibilities” await with this year’s summer reading program. Sign up May 23-August 7, 2022 to participate. Dive deep into summer reading! For every three books checked out, receive an entry into our weekly drawing and our end-of-the-summer grand prize drawing! Bring your checkout receipt to the Teen/Adult Services desk to receive your entry slip. Remember, the more entries, the more opportunities to win!

From time to time we also sponsor potluck suppers and other socials. All events and activities of the group are open to the public. Participating in SEO activities is a splendid, simple way to make congenial new friends who enjoy the outdoors.

At approximately 9 p.m., the first of more than 2,500 shells and effects will brighten Vulcan and the sky above him. A unique score featuring artists such as James Brown, Imagine Dragons and Neil Diamond plus a special tribute to The World Games 2022 sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield will be expertly timed and choreographed to the colorful firework display, making it the biggest show Vulcan has put on to date. There will also be a selection of songs as a tribute to the city.
Thunder on the Mountain is presented by Hibbett | City Gear, Medical Properties Trust and UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. Vulcan Park & Museum organized this event with our corporate partners Protective, Regions Bank and Vulcan Materials Company with additional support from City of Birmingham, Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Homewood, Pyro Shows of Alabama, La Jefa 98.3, iHeart Media Birmingham including Magic 96.5, News Radio 105.5, WERC, 103.7 The Q and 102.5 The Bull; and WBRC Fox 6 News.

Starting on May 23, come by the Homewood Public Library’s Children’s Department or visit our website at www.homewoodpubliclibrary.org to sign up for summer reading. Once signed up, come pick up a goodie bag! You’ll receive a calendar reading log to track each day you read or listen to an audiobook. Bring your log to our children’s desk, and for each day you mark off, you will earn an entry in our drawing for a weekly prize! Bon voyage!

Participating in SEO activities is a splendid, simple way to make congenial new friends who enjoy the outdoors.
NO DOGS OR SMOKING ALLOWED, PLEASE, ON ANY SOUTHEASTERN OUTINGS EVENTS.

At approximately 9 p.m., the first of more than 2,500 shells and effects will brighten Vulcan and the sky above him. A unique score featuring artists such as James Brown, Imagine Dragons and Neil Diamond plus a special tribute to The World Games 2022 sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield will be expertly timed and choreographed to the colorful firework display, making it the biggest show Vulcan has put on to date. There will also be a selection of songs as a tribute to the city.
Thunder on the Mountain is presented by Hibbett | City Gear, Medical Properties Trust and UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. [more+]Visit a world limited only by your imagination! Create your own mermaid story, search for dragon’s eggs, and design your own fairy wings. Each day is an adventure with magical creatures and enchanted activities. Campers explore each day’s theme through dance, art, and drama classes. Students must be camp grade level by the 22-23 school year. Campers will be given a snack break each day and will receive a T-shirt. Camps are led by professionally trained teaching artists in our studios.

This season you'll find all kinds of beautiful and tasty fruits and veggies, meats (beef, chicken, pork, duck, lamb, etc.) eggs, cheese, micro-greens, cauliflower, peppers, bread, baked goods, and so much more. We are aiming for 70% food vendors! In addition, the market is surrounded by great restaurants (GM Pizzeria, Ash, Little London Kitchen, Seeds, BUKA, and Neighbors Ice Cream shop. There will be live entertainment and places to sit and have dinner!
