An exhibit at Temple Beth El, an historic synagogue in Birmingham, Ala., argues that listening to people who stay on the periphery can deepen our understanding of the past, and the present.

Please find the full story about the powerful new civil rights exhibit, written by Rick Rojas, at nytimes.com, or in the print edition from Saturday, May 11, 2024.

The exhibit at Temple Beth El was designed and organized by Tyler Jones, a Birmingham filmmaker and director of 1504 studio, along with historian Melissa Young, the synagogue’s director of programming Margaret Norman and others in the congregation.
