Join us for the 2020 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk

March 6 – 8 • Lake Guntersville & Birmingham, AL

Question: “Where are the fish biting?”

Answer: “Well, I don’t know where they’re biting just now, but come March 6th, they’re gonna be biting right here!”

Birmingham is once again proud to host the world bass fishing championship, the Bassmaster Classic, presented this year by Huk. And, it is fitting that this, the 50th anniversary of the tournament, be held here, where the organization behind the event – the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) was founded in 1968.

If you have even the slightest interest in fishing, you’ll not want to miss this event. In that first week of Spring, the chill of winter will have not completely worn off in these parts, but the waters of Lake Guntersville up north of us will most definitely heat up with the introduction of fishing teams from all over the world. Professional anglers will be pitted one against the other in a test of skill, intuition, technology, and guts as they see who catches the coveted prize.

While the professionals are out on the water, (and this particular event most definitely draws the titans of the sport) the rest of us mere fishing mortals will be able to enjoy a variety of activities ranging from the Kickoff Party on the evening of March 5th to wandering in a state of slack-jawed amazement through the huge Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo, with upwards of 200 exhibitors from around the world selling a variety of gear for the outdoors enthusiast. Our reco would be to witness the Takeoff at Lake Guntersville, where there will be giveaways, prizes, photo opportunities and the like, and then head south to Birmingham for the expo and weigh-ins.
