Learn a little about our city.

To All Our Southern Baptist Convention Friends:

Birmingham’s entire hospitality industry is looking forward with pleasure to hosting your Annual Meeting here June 11-12. People who visit Birmingham, as well as those who live here, say they sense a vibe to this city that they don’t find elsewhere in their travels.  It’s a blend of hospitality, charm, and good times that brings folks back to visit time and again.

Birmingham regularly attracts national attention for its dining vibe.  Chef-owned dining rooms are abundant, and the city is known for the world’s best barbecue.  Don’t forget the meat-and-three steam tables serving up heaping helpings of fresh Southern vegetables and tempting desserts.  Birmingham has earned its title, “Dinner Table of the South.”

The area has a wealth of shopping opportunities—from major malls to exclusive boutiques—adding to the city’s vibe.  Spend an afternoon browsing through the cool shops in the suburb of Homewood.  Hit the major shopping adventures at The Summit, an outdoor mall housing dozens of upscale and trendy stores.  Or browse the bargains at the Outlet Shops of Grand River.

Come early and stay over after the SBC Annual Meeting to spend time exploring attractions in the area.  Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum houses the world’s largest collection of antique and contemporary motorcycles.  Get a panoramic view of the city from Vulcan, the largest cast iron statue in the world.  And trace the movement that changed the world in the Birmingham Civil Rights District.

We look forward to having the Southern Baptist Convention in Birmingham. Enjoy the vibe.

All the best,
