Hundreds of soccer fans gathered at Good People Brewing Company in August to hear the good news. United Soccer League President, Jake Edwards, was in town to make the announcement: Birmingham is getting their own professional soccer team. The team will make their USL debut in 2019 and plans on playing downtown.

The team will be Birmingham Legion FC, a tribute to Birmingham’s historic Legion Field.
