Vulcan - God of the forge

Vulcan, the Roman mythical God of the forge, is the second tallest statue in the United States (after the Statue of Liberty) and the tallest cast-iron statue in the world.  Vulcan stands atop Red Mountain on his pedestal and overlooks Birmingham.  Vulcan represents the industry that made the city grow...producing iron and steel.
